About the Gray-headed Woodpecker
The Gray-headed Woodpecker has a vast range, found in central, eastern, and northern Europe. 
It prefers mixed coniferous forests with a higher concentration of dead trees. 
It's diet consists mainly of ants, but will occasionally eat other insects, and fruits and berries in the winter months.
The Gray-headed Woodpecker population seems to be declining, but not significantly enough to upgrade its status from Least Concern on the IUCN red list.
